Awesome thermos
Greg· Review provided by stanley1913.com · November 16, 2024
Really love this bottle. I have a 30 year old Stanley classic thermos that I use, but wanted something easier to carry in my backpack. This fits the bill perfectly. Lightweight and keeps my coffee piping hot during my commute to work. I will be using this new version for many years to come!

My classic thermos had a different stopper design, the new one works much better with no dripping after filling my mug.
Has never kept anything hot ...

Alright, i'll start off by saying I am a Stanley fanatic. I have the travel mug with the button at the top which has served me well for years. It has never lost heat as abruptly as the 1 quart model i'm reviewing does. I also have the 1 Liter classic design, 100th anniversary model, in hammered blue and it has NEVER lost heat, even with the same design as this 1 quart model (twist off gasketed top with overlapping metal cup). I have taken this thing everywhere, as a truck driver and forester I get around. Whether it be in the woods on a summer cruise through timber or a freezing cold morning delivering into southern Wyoming, this thing has never kept my coffee hot. I have had it for quite a while only to keep it in my collection of other Stanley Thermoses which outperform this model ten-fold.
Seal issues
RNoll· Review provided by stanley-pmi.com · December 1, 2016
The threads in the thermos are shallow and very rounded. The plug's threads are sharp edged and square, plus they are only partial so that you can pour through them at some point in loosing the plug. Over tightening allows the threads to slide past one another, or if there is any pressure inside the sealed thermos. When pouring hot beverage into thermos, the thermos seams to expand and the plug can go in further, then when the thermos starts cooling along the threads it pushes the plug out.

I once removed the translucent white gasket at the bottom of the plug to clean it. I could remember which way to put it back on. It is rounded but slit all along the circumference. Does the slit seal against the plug or should it point downwards, towards the thermos insides? I have tried both and it still leaks.

I'm only carrying hot water so that I can use the Stanley French Press at work, but even that has caused the lid to leak all over me leather seats or in my day pack on the way to work. I wish the lid would work better. It is the right size for my process.
Super Product
