Great lighting with some minor changes recommended
Garrett P.ˇ Review provided by lightmybricks.com ˇ October 1, 2024
I already had the A-Frame Cabin built, and the instructions for adding the lighting were very clear and easy to follow. It was a bit tricky when you get to the trees on the side, particularly when trying to work under the house and get everything together, but I can't think of how that could be avoided. The second floor also has a tendency to pop off as you're working on its side. I think if I were to do it again I'd remove everything from the back of the house so I could set it flat on its back for most of the work.

I only have to minor gripes with this set: all the exterior lights are yellow (I bought some orange lights separately for the lanterns which I like a lot more), and I wish they'd included four connector pegs.

I think the extra connector pegs are essential for this, because by default the trees on both sides of the kit are not connected, and I would be very nervous about having the wire pulled through with them not being attached to the house well. I had four connector pegs in my bin of spare parts that I used to replace the cross axle/peg the kit uses and everything feels much more secure now, and no more worries about tugging on the wiring.

But that aside, I have no complaints. The new 2.0 wires feel fairly strong and are very thin, so super easy to get in place, and the instructions are clear and helpful. You'll also have two light slots extra available to do some customization if you feel so inclined.

Overall it's a beautiful improvement on the base kit, and I'm very happy with it.
One of the best set in years

I have finally bought this set, after more than 18 months after its release date. I waited simply because there are so many amazing and epic sets, it is hard to choose which one to buy first (which is a good thing to have many sets to choose from, it keeps the passion of the brick alive). Now that I have built the A Frame Cabin, I can't help but question myself "Why did I wait so long ?" lol That set is tremendous ! Very well made, impressively accurate and just the right size to make it minifig scale. There is a cozy country places feeling when I look at the build. I really like that canoe, I have a real one exactly identical at home. Initially, when this set was released, I originally thought that it was a bit pricey. But recently, when building it, I realized that this set is actually bigger than I expected. And with the side build of trees, it makes it even bigger. That set is one of the best Ideas set ever made in my opinion. 5/5 without hesitation :)
Looks great, but a tad frustrating

Easy enough to install but the lights really affect the playability of this set, despite how nice it augments the build.

I followed the pictured instructions as I couldn't find a video (is there one?). My biggest pet peeve was when I arrived at step 71. I came to realize that step 35 was not correct. That step had me hide the wires along the right side of the top piece but when I got to step 71, I quickly realized it needed to be on the left. Step 71 could have been step 35 but how it's listed currently I had to disassemble the work I did in step 35 and redo it on the opposite side. Game of bricks should amend the steps and correct this.

The trees are a test of patience, trying to wrap the wires along the trunk to hide them as best as possible, but just take your time and you can minimize how noticeable they are.

Enjoying the inside of the cabin is the biggest draw back of the strip lights along the border of the two roof pieces. There is no way to take the roof off without unplugging the lights. This is very difficult with all the ports at the back corner, especially if you have glued the port strip to the structure as instructed. I realized it was going to be a problem and left the port strip loose. My worry is repeated unplugging will cause the wires to pull out of the plug. Even when unplugging and then removing the roof, you have to keep the two roof pieces close together because the wire at that the apex is very short. I'll probably end up removing the strip lights all together. If you aren't going to be moving your build much or showing the internal aspects of the cabin to people, it does show off nicely with everything lit up.

Overall, it's a cool light set, but you really need to decide if you are ok with limited playability. My first light set was the seinfeld kit, which for my first attempt, went quite well and worked well with that build. This A frame set has me questioning if installing the light set I bought for the treehouse build is going to be something I'll want to test. I'll definitely be reviewing the steps of that one before even considering it.
Dream Getaway Cabin

This is my first time ever building Lego. I loved every step of the experience. There were surprises in each packet. The way the building was put together and use of the pieces to me was amazing. The detail is incredible from the geode, typewriter lamps, stove, even the kitchen sink. The toilet was a fun addition. I have big hands for a woman and the small fiddly bits were a challenge I gladly took on. Had a great feeling of achievement once finished and looked at the photos. Showed it off to my work colleagues and found most of them are into lego so always a conversation to be had. Lego has a high standard of attention to detail and product quality. Thank you I had a lot of fun doing this build.
