January 14, 2024I've never put a negative review before on any set I've purchased. However this set I was unable to enjoy building. To be informative;
Build instructions- Not per usual sets, this set had steps that had many pieces on certain pages opposed to few per page. Some pages, there so many steps on one page it made for a major headache. There was no gratification from the giant long steps either. Long steps =hidden steps or rock formations, that didnt really provide any amazing appearance. Complicated build techniques sideways pieces, or the round stones were very hard to be exactly place in right spot 1st time.
The buildings don't give you gratification after all the long steps nor give any spectacular definite detail that makes it worth 20 pages for rock or steps that barely can see. Honestly I just wanted this build to end once I began. I own the Titanic and about 150 other sets, aside from very few frustrations, this one made me wish not to purchase. I wanted the viking set so bad too 😔. Great minifigs, good piece count, weak connections at the base and poor details for the amount of steps (except for a few printed tiles that were nice). Overall, don't recommend and honestly doesn't size up very well. Quite small compared to the Creator caslte and dwarfed by the Treehouse. That said, still AFOL however I'll read more reviews and look a Lil further from now on

April 6, 2024To Valhalla! The Viking Village is a great set, and as a medieval fan I had to buy it. The price point, I would say, is the most striking part of this set. $129.99 for a 2,000+ piece set is insane. And you are getting your money's worth on this one. The village looks just as you would expect your typical Viking Village to look like, including a smithy and long house. The Minifigures are intricately detailed, with striking prints that really capture the Viking world. The build also does an awesome job of depicting a northern village, and the materials definitely look organic. The one gripe I have with this set is the lack of a boat. I think that there at least could've been a small rowboat piece to show how the villagers catch their fish and leave their island home. On that note the set could've also done with another Viking to provide some more substance. But those are nitpicking details. I love the set regardless and highly recommend!
Can't ask for a better deal!

April 2, 2024This set is truly a highlight of the Lego Ideas theme.
The build was closely adapted from the submitted fan concept, with some notable differences no doubt for practicality and stability.
The viking village is exceptionally detailed, each bit of the set feels lived in, and almost like it could be a real place. From the blacksmith's shop to the main hall.
The minifigures are all comprised of great parts which make them look the part of vikings perfectly. Albeit with non-historically accurate horned helmet.
In terms of value, this set is better than any other on the market right now. Over 2000 pieces for $169.99 CAD and the build is massive! While the set does contain many small parts, it isn't lacking in size, it takes up a large space on my bookshelf.
Overall I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a good deal, and moreso than that an engaging build!
Lacking in almost everyway

January 17, 2024I really want to like this set because I love vikings and think the them is awesome. That said it's been in a word underwhelming:
-This set is extremely brown and I mean brown, they tried to spice it up with the bridge but my goodness they are vikings not manure farmers. On some of the directions you can't tell what's going on because it's brown on brown.
-The most details you are going to see in this set is on the roofs. If you look at similar set like pirates of barracuda way this one fails in almost everyway. Super disappointing especially in the long house.
-speaking of long houses this for me was one of the most disappointing parts, it's tiny barely enough room for 1 or 2 figures and don't bother taking off the roof there is not much interesting besides a chair that is too close to the fire
I would say to save your money on this guy and look at other sets for $200 if you want any sort of neat details for display
