[Rewarded Review] Good enough, but disappointing. Small ears beware

October 16, 2024I am very happy with the fit. I think the stability bands were a great idea and make what is a fairly bulky device far more stable than I would have expected. I was also pleasantly surprised by the noise cancellation, it's still not as effective as the noise cancellation of my 4+ year old Bose 700s, but it does work in some specific use cases while still letting in some annoying frequencies (even after running a successful seal test). If you're a smaller person with small ears (I'm 5'9" with fairly average ears from what I can tell) I do not believe these will work for you. I fear these may have been subject to the common failure of western designers using QA testers who tend towards the average american male traits.
The software customization is very disappointing. No matter what I try, switching modes is always accompanied with the robot voice saying what setting it is now in even when you only have 2 distinctly different, easily recognizable modes that are self evident without the interruption. What makes it worse is that it will sometimes accept my input, return the robot voice saying I'm in "aware" mode (for example) but the mode settings are still in "quiet" mode until I resubmit the input and the robot repeats the same mode as the change is actually made to the mode setting. I've also had issues with earbuds not knowing the difference between being in my ears or set on the table and continuing to play audio in the background when I'm expecting it to be paused based on the manual.
The most disappointing element is the poor quality build of the case. The case is essential to the product, the earbuds are useless without it, so the attention to detail should still be there for such an integral element of the product. Difficulties taking out the earbuds with long nails is something I can understand being missed during QA tests, but the hinge of the case is poorly designed and executed to a shocking degree. It's immensely wobbly when closed and feels like it could break with a single drop at the wrong angle. These Bose buds are $50 more expensive than the current high-end earbud "standard" (the ones that are optimized for iOS exclusively) which, in contrast, has the best executed earbud case I've seen so far: the hinge is actually made of a material that is up to the task of functioning as a robust hinge at a small scale with high use.
After the impeccable experience I had with the Bose 700 headphones (which I would give 4/5 because they're, once again, not good for small heads), I was expecting a comparable degree of build quality, and that may have been my own mistake. I'll be keeping them, they're functional earbuds with the expected Bose audio fidelity, but it is a very disappointing build quality that I am simply hoping won't lead to these becoming e-waste due to a bad drop or the hinge just giving up what little it had to give it begin with (although I imagine I could return them to be refurbished if that sad future would ever come to pass, which is of come comfort).
Even more amazing than you've been told.

January 30, 2024I waited over a month before writing this review since I only review purchases after I get a good amount of use of them and since it's been almost 2 months let's do this.
Ok everyone has heard of Bose and many have heard of their sound quality and outside sound canceling technology but let me tell you that until you experience these things you just don't know how hood they truly are.
I've always kinda liked Bose and I've owned a few of their products off and on over the decades but wow oh wow are these great earbuds, the sound quality is excellent and the app super easy to operate giving you a lot of control over your person sound experience using these earbuds.
The crisp clear beautiful sound is just so dang sweet and are great to listen to podcasts but when you go to music is when they really shine and will make you smile.
Now let's talk about the sound canceling on these Bose earbuds as it is a-freaking-mazing and I was unprepared for just how much they block when you turn on "Quiet" mode on the app, everything fades out and you are alone with whatever you are listening too which makes the uninterrupted voices/music even better.
Last is the fit, these earbuds will not fall out or shift in your ear and I found the mounting seal not only unique but very comfortable. I have worn these earbuds for 2-3 hours at a time and never did my ears feel any fatigue during or after as I've experienced on other in ear headphones and earbuds.
The one tiny downside of my earbuds is that when watching my TV in front of my treadmill the earbuds dont have much volune and i havent found how i can take conttol if the volume of the actual buds whike connected to the tv unit but this is a small issue really as
I rarely use headphones on my treadmill.
The bottom line is I'm thoroughly happy with my Bose earbuds and enjoy using them as they seem to have given new life to my music and workouts.
I will definitely keep my eye out for more Bose products in the future when shopping for audio products.
Didn’t even work for a minute, twice.

December 31, 2024Extremely unhappy and will never be buying from Bose again. I’m autistic and rely heavily and noise cancellation to navigate the world, so Bose seemed perfect with their high quality noise cancellation. After having tried the quiet comfort earbuds twice (first pair failed due to one becoming much much quieter, spent ages trying to get a replacement out of Bose only for the second pair to fail within the first two months over the same reason AGAIN); and from then getting the ultra quiet comfort earbuds this year (which turned out even worse than the others: had a very sharp high pitched piercing crackling noise in the left earbud immediately, as soon and I turned them on for the first time. Somehow got these replaced too with just as much, id not more difficultly than the last time. And guess what? That replacement was EXACTLY the same as the first pair, and after all this I had to fight extremely ely hard to get a refund). So, after all this (and some more awful experiences with Boses most recent headset (earcups falling apart after less than 5 months and with it sounding like tiny screws are rattling around in both), I would advice one to look elsewhere for a product. I really tired to keep using Bose because yes, the noise cancellation is amazing and I do desperately need that as an AuDHDer living with intense sensory overload, but what’s the point if I spent over $1000 dollars and still don’t get a working product after trying 5 did devices? The stress and upset and increased difficulty this has caused on my life has been very hard to work through. Overall I’m just sad that Boses products can’t reliably help people or just work. Please save your money for another device elsewhere :(

December 9, 2024This is my 3rd pair of Quiet Comfort Earbuds more specifically this is my 2nd pair of Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds due to replacements for manufacture issues that didnt allow the earbuds to perform to standards. The Earbuds don’t last more than 6hrs when it comes to battery life which is very disheartening based on this brand and other brands last more than 10+ hours on a full charge. I’ve spent more time waiting on replacements than I have enjoying the products. My initial purchase which was 1 year ago, was The Quiet Comfort II Earbuds lasted 8+ hours on a full charge but there were major connection and audio issues which led to the replacement. The replacement was upgraded to The Quiet Comfort Ultra and to date I’ve had that product replaced as well so I’ve had 3 of The Quiet Comfort Line of products in less than a 1.5 year span and the customer service is the ABSOLUTE WORST THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! No sense of urgency! Agents are combative and argumentative, there is no structure, no escalation protocols, no accountability when they don’t meet their own standards and timelines either. For a company like Bose I am disgusted at how the process of getting fully functioning products has been. I have had to travel without my very expensive earbuds on multiple occasions over the past few months because this company simply does not care. For products that are nothing less than $200 it’s absolutely sickening how they could care less about the consumer and my issues were MANUFACTURER ISSUES! I wouldn’t recommend this brand! Spend your money where you are VALUED AS A CONSUMER!
